NEW MUSIC VIDEO - River Blues is released!

We live in interesting times...
A lot of things ground to a screeching halt in 2020 as Covid-19 changed the performing arts landscape beyond all recognition! After the first lockdown started in March 2020, a friend of mine introduced me to the #100daysuke2020 group hosted by Cynthia Lin, a #100daysproject that encouraged people to get out their ukes and play. In a fit of, let's face it, somewhat over-zealous enthusiasm I opted to record 100 of my own original ukulele songs written over the last 10 years. Some of these stripped back videos (featuring frequent cat cameos/percussive elements) have been loaded up on my YouTube channel here.
Doing the project inspired me to write again and I have a stack of new songs that will be released on a new album later this year. I am very excited about this!
If you haven't already checked out the music video I made last year for my song River Blues (above) please do! I was so fortunate to work with the fantastic artists of dirtdustlight - Steven Mitchell Wright, Morgan Roberts and Hahnie Goldfinch on this video and record with Myles Mumford at Rolling Stock Recording Rooms. Please have a watch and listen and share if you feel so inclined.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are keeping well in these strange times.

Jane blends folk, blues and jazz influences to create a sound that is as captivating as it is hard to categorise. Her songs are rich in narrative, building characters and stories that are both familiar and fresh, humorous and heart-breaking.
In 2013, Jane supported celebrated cigar box guitarist Justin Johnson (USA) as part of his Smoke and Mirrors world tour. She has performed numerous times at almost every major ukulele festival in Australia (Melbourne/Cairns/Blue Mountains/SPRUKE!/Newcastle) as well as at the Recycled Roots Festival.
Jane launched her debut album, The Mercy of the Tide in 2015, featuring a wider palette of instrumentation with some extremely talented musicians - George Borthwick (bass), Sebastien Jego (drums), Julian Swinnerton (cello), Xani Kolac (violin), Ingrid Homburg (violin), Andrew McClean (harmonica), Matthew Alford (guitar), Nick Evangelou (slide & weissenborn), Chris Weber (trumpet) and Greg Steps (backing vocals).
After a busy few years touring her debut album and playing regular gigs around Melbourne and regional Victoria, Jane returned to her first love - the theatre - in 2018/19 to tread the boards in The Bachelor s17e05 and The Danger Ensemble's Let Men Tremble. She also started a light-hearted side project - Tracy Jayne and the Power Dressers - with fellow ukulele songstress Tracey Hogue (a.k.a. Girl Friday), George Borthwick (bass) and Ash Jones (violin).
